The Nuriootpa Project Nominated for Country Home of the Year 2024

The Nuriootpa Project has been nominated for South Australian Country Home of the Year 2024 in the HIA-CSR South Australia Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards. Perfectly located in the heart of the wine country we know and love. The Nuriootpa Project is a beautiful representation of the level of design, craftsmanship and construction that we are known for.

This modern country home stands out as you drive down the street, a contrast to the traditional homes known in the area. That street is well known by locals for the spacious and inviting lifestyle blocks.

The journey with Kookaburra Homes for our customers, Justin and Donna, started in 2021 by chance. They stumbled upon our display home because of our popular Modern Country style, a design style for which we are well recognised.

Fast forward to late 2023, and Justin and Donna received the keys to their large Hamptons style family home that will adapt to their life changes over the years. The journey is a testament to their vision and commitment to creating their own unique home.

“We would like to thank you all for our spectacular home. It is everything we dreamed of and more. While there were a few bumps and turns along the way, the result was our amazing home, built to perfection. The entire team at Kookaburra should be very proud of the work you do. Thank you all,” say the home owners, Justin and Donna.

The build didn’t come without its challenges. This project, like many others in recent years, took place during one of the busiest times in the industry. Furthermore, the build process faced challenges with a lengthy delay in securing a quality bricklaying team, a job that takes time to complete correctly. While also adding in the theft of building supplies from the site and a looming deadline for the lease of their rental property.

The result is a stunning home hitting all the non-negotiables that made up Justin and Donna’s brief:

• A home to accommodate the grand block size.
• A 30-degree roof pitch, paired with 3-metre ceilings, to establish a substantial street presence.
• A wide entryway with detailed James Hardie wall panelling. This creates a grand entrance and to accommodate a future church pew.
• Three living areas, all fit for a unique purpose
• His and hers walk-in robes, one completely furnished by the owners.
• Multiple outdoor entertaining spaces, one a master bedroom courtyard, a space to enjoy a secluded coffee.
• Large windows and doors at the rear of the home to capture the Northern aspect.

The expansive vegetable gardens and thoughtful external landscaping completes the style. This all brings the added country charm to compliment the home.

Justin and Donna, along with the whole Kookaburra Homes Team, have created a stunning home that expresses the principle of country living. More importantly, it is a home that our customers are proud of and will enjoy for many years to come.
