Sutton Project Nominated for Lightweight Home of the Year
The Sutton Project is an incredible lightweight home and truly showcases Kookaburra Homes’ superior design and build capabilities and attention to detail. Located in beautiful Sunnyside, along the Murray River in South Australia, this riverfront, two storey home is nominated for Lightweight Home of the Year in this year’s HIA Awards. Designing this home for our customer’s existing riverfront property presented our team with a range of complexities to overcome, but resulted in a stunning home that exceeded our customer’s expectations. Kookaburra Homes’ expertise in custom homes designed for the conditions of the Riverlands was crucial in delivering a build of this quality. In the words of Georgina, the owner of the property: “Kookaburra Homes understood the vision we had in mind and the challenges of building on a limited footprint on the river… They had terrific suggestions and ideas and we now have our dream home that we cannot stop looking at.”
This home is designed for year round riverfront living. With design luxuries on both levels and views from all angles, this home truly maximises its small build envelope to create a luxurious abode. The home features a stunning contemporary kitchen with a servery through to the balcony, which has a spacious outdoor entertaining area, complete with amenities such as an extra large ceiling fan and radiant strip-heaters.
The innovative design and creative features throughout this home are a testament to Kookaburra’s expert team. The house, despite its small build envelope, presents a truly impressive and eye-catching facade from the water, and Kookaburra Homes designed and constructed a custom boat shed as part of the lower level of the home, complete with a winch system for the owner.
